Mediation

Work things out together — without going to court.
With the support of an experienced, neutral mediator, you can work through issues, make decisions together, and reach practical agreements that help you move forward with confidence.

What is mediation?

Mediation is a confidential process where you and the other party work through issues together with the support of a neutral mediator.

The mediator doesn't take sides or make decisions. They guide the conversation, help explore options, and support everyone to work towards an agreement.

Sessions may take place over one or more sessions, depending on what's needed. Lawyers and other specialists can be involved where appropriate.

Any outcomes are reached by agreement, meaning you stay in control of the decisions being made.

Why choose mediation?

Mediation gives people a more practical, private, and constructive way to work through issues — without the cost, delay, and pressure of going to court.

You stay in control

You make the decisions — not a judge. Outcomes are reached by agreement, meaning the people involved stay part of the process from start to finish.

Move forward sooner

Mediation is often significantly faster than traditional court proceedings. Once both parties are ready to engage, we can usually begin the process within 10 days — allowing people to focus on resolving issues constructively rather than becoming caught in lengthy and costly disputes.

Keep things private

Everything discussed through mediation remains confidential. There are no courtrooms, public hearings, or public records of sensitive personal matters.

Focus on practical outcomes

Agreements are shaped around real-life situations, making them more workable day to day and easier to carry forward beyond the process.

Protect important relationships

A more constructive and less adversarial process can help preserve communication and respect — particularly where relationships continue beyond the dispute.

A more flexible process

Sessions are arranged around the people involved, with flexibility around timing, pace, and how the process moves forward.

Is mediation right for you?

Mediation works best when both parties are willing to engage and explore a way forward together.
  • You don't need to agree on everything to begin — just be open to the conversation.
  • If you're feeling unsure, that's completely normal. Most people who come to us have never been through mediation before.
  • Your mediator is there to create a safe, constructive space where everyone has the opportunity to be heard and work towards a solution together.
